About
Philippe, a native of Luxembourg, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in media arts with highest honors from Pratt Institute, New York in 2000. Soon thereafter, he pursued a career as a freelance fashion photographer, which became his full time occupation by 2002. Shooting mostly e-commerce, editorials, look books and campaigns, he would soon acquire clients such as Tracy Reese, MTV Networks, Badgley Mischka, Diane Von Furstenberg, Bravado Brand Merchandising, Vivienne Tam, Factory PR, White and Warren and Delta Galil among others. While becoming the lead e-commerce photographer for Tory Burch until 2006.
In 2008, Philippe had the immense luck and honor to be recruited by a young team of talented entrepreneurs who would soon launch renttherunway.com, for which he became and remained the lead e-commerce and occasional editorial photographer until 2015. This position was followed by a similar role at eloquii.com from 2013 to present. He shoots for eloquii.com on a weekly basis.
His photographic style is predominantly marked by minimal compositions, subtle surrealism and tranquility. In his personal work, he tends to merge fashion with melancholy in form of isolation, detachment and the status quo of everyday existence.
Philippe lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and son. When not shooting away in a studio or client showroom, he dedicates himself to a number of artistic pursuits, including personal photography projects, cinematography, producing ambient electronica, and - occasionally - attempting to get a grip on playing electric guitar.
